After two weeks of vacation at the beautiful, sunny, 75-degree Mayan Riviera on the coast of Mexico with my husband and partner, I headed home Saturday thinking about the keynote presentation I’ll give today in Raleigh, North Carolina at the North Carolina Governor’s Conference on Hospitality and Tourism.
Then the worst winter storm of the season arrived. No problem; I came a day early and beat the storm. I am a seasoned traveler who is ready to go.
At 4:30 I’ll be talking about how to use digital media, how to draw travelers to your destination at a time when money is, well, a little tight, and it’s far superior to its ugly step-sister, traditional media. We’ll be covering website development, display ads, search, email, lead generation and social. And I’ll be using PollEverywhere.com to allow the audience to tell ME what they are most interested in hearing about in real time. So if time’s running short, I’ll know which one to skip. At the end, folks will also be able to tell me what they will do differently with their marketing dollars after today.
Special thanks to folks at the Raleigh Marriott City Center, who are taking great care of me (I arrived with a bug I brought back from Mexico) so the show can go on. It’s a beautiful, new hotel and when they say ‘at your service’ they mean it.

You were incredible! I was there and saw it with my own eyes. Some people said it is the best they have seen in 5 years.
