As a designer, I would love nothing more than to tell you that a beautiful design will fix all your problems, keep your dishes washed and your shirts ironed. However, it’s just not true. No matter how beautiful your design, content still rules the roost.
It was gorgeous. Not only did I know what was important, I could actually see it and create design based on it.
This week, I’ve had the pleasure of working on a project where we had organized content from the beginning, and it was sweet! No Lorem ipsum or assorted Latin phrases I don’t understand - just actual, real-life content. It was gorgeous. Not only did I know what was important, I could actually see it and create design based on it. The result is a design built around what’s truly most important…the client.
Now I don’t smell flowers and chase rainbows, so I know we can’t always have the content from the beginning. However, organized content made development fast like a rabbit and easy like Sunday morning. So here’s to content being King and design chillin’ in his court.
Sidenote: Content is great, but we can still whip up something that will leave you sans socks while you’re pulling your content together. Just try us.

Amen! I love when content comes easy, but I also agree that it’s a dream to have that on every project, it is however a nice thing to shoot for.
I’m envious. I’ve only had one project where I had content in the initial phase of the project. That one project was just enough to let me know what I’m missing out on. If only it weren’t so freakin’ difficult to wrangle content…
Amen X2!
Keep it real folks. There are two sides to this argument.
Oh, sorry. Let me clarify, I was referring to the difficulty in generating content in general. I think we are aware as any that this is a tricky part of the process. I’ve found, even in my personal projects, that this is particularly difficult!
Content is king, yet some clients don’t get content to the designers until later. Thist just makes designing even harder because you need to have content to be able to design around.
